Audit employment practices/policies. The primary goal of the audit is to identify and resolve any areas where the company is not in compliance with state or federal law. The secondary goal is to identify any areas where the employer may be vulnerable to claims (due to weak policies or inexperienced management, for example) and work to resolve those issues before they result in an employee complaint or in litigation.

I offer a 2-hour supervisor sexual harassment training program that complies with the requirements of California law for employers with 50 or more employees. This program will be tailored to reflect your company's policies. In addition, I offer training programs on leaves of absence, how to conduct investigations, and managing employees within the law. These programs are always tailored to the needs of the specific employer for which the training is done.

When an employee relations problem is brewing, employers can greatly benefit by consulting an attorney. Administering leaves of absence, analyzing potential accommodations for disabilities, and deciding when and whether to terminate an employee are just a few of the common areas where employers often make decisions without the assistance of counsel … and regret those decisions later. Remember: It is less expensive to consult an attorney through a problem than it is to defend a lawsuit.

Sometimes, despite an employer’s best efforts, litigation cannot be avoided. If your company is on the receiving end of a lawsuit, it can be extremely frustrating, as well as expensive. Early investigation and legal analysis can help a company decide whether an early resolution (i.e., settlement) is something it wants to consider. If an early resolution cannot be reached for whatever reason, I will vigorously and effectively represent the company’s interests.
